Dr. Fowler is an Assistant Professor of Nursing who also teaches in the Family and Community Services program. Her background is in mental health/psychiatric nursing, and her professional experiences include in-patient and out-patient care as well as community education in domestric violence prevention. She is an active member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. She founded the Howard Country Stepfamily Association, a chapter of the Stepfamily Association of America, and she continues to serve as the chapter president. She also serves on the community advisory board of the National Family Resiliency Center.
She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Georgetown University, her Master of Science in Nursing at the University of California in Los Angeles, and her Ph.D. from the University of Maryland. She is called to nursing education by the excitement of shared discovery through teaching and learning with her students. She has been an enthusiastic member of the Villa Julie Community since 2001.
