Jennifer obtained her Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Denison University in Granville, Ohio. She pursued a Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, and has spent several years as a certified therapist in settings ranging from private hospitals to the public school system. She also holds a Master's degree in Film Studies from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.
Her research interests include psychoanalysis and film, film as language, film as texile, and religion as portrayed by Hollywood mainstream movies.
