Dr. Moran is an associate professor of nursing who guides the education of registered nurses who are pursuing a bachelor of nursing degree at Villa Julie College. She has 33 years of nursing experience in a wide variety of arenas: medical-surgical, intensive care, hemodialysis, obstetrical care, home/hospice care and community-based clinic nursing. As a nursing faculty member for 26 years, she has taught nursing refresher courses, associate degree nursing education and now has brought those experiences together in the RN to BS option at Villa Julie College.
Dr. Moran's research interests in the past have focused on the changes occurring in health care delivery. Her dissertation research is titled, Listening to the Nurses' Voices in the Midst of Health Care Reform: A Phenomenological Study, has allowed her to better understand the experience of practicing nurses and guide them toward empowerment and change. Current research and writing for Dr. Moran has been directed toward the experience of empowerment through student self revelation and peer support.
She is a member of the Maryland Nurses Association and the American Nurses Association. During the 2004-2006 term, she will serve as the president of Rho Epsilon Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Society. As a member of the International Association of Human Caring, she has carried forward the values of caring into the teaching and counseling of students.
