Ms. Phillips is an associate professor of nursing who has worked in all of the nursing education options at Villa Julie College. She has more than 25 years of experience in nursing including medical-surgical nursing, gerontological nursing and community health nursing. In addition, Ms. Phillips has functioned in a variety of nursing roles such as clinical nurse specialist, nursing administration at several large medical centers as well as nursing research.
Ms. Phillips' research interests center on women's health issues and gerontological nursing. Her dissertation, currently in progress, is titled Social Network and Dietary Intake in Community Dwelling Elderly Women: A Secondary Analysis of NHANES III. She has also been part of a team of nurse researchers conducting research about disruptive behaviours in clients with dementia. Ms. Phillips has authored about her research roles.
She is a member of the Maryland Nurses' Association and the American Nurses Association as well as the Rho Epsilon Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Society of Nursing. In addition, Ms. Phillips is a member of the Gerontological Society of America and the American Public Health Association.
